Yes Consumer Solutions Limited (YCSL) has been fined £170,000 by the ICO for making illegal marketing calls to consumers registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS).
Key points to note
- YCSL made 188,493 illegal direct marketing calls over a 12 month period between October 2018 and October 2019.
- Ironically YCSL sell nuisance call blocking systems which meant they had the technology to check their marketing lists against the TPS but decided against doing so.
- In all 13 complaints were received about the company which prompted the ICO investigation.
- Contacting people who have been registered with the TPS for longer than 28 days is against electronic marketing law (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
