The data shows the number of new whistleblowing reports the FCA received between April and June 2023 and how the information was received.
Key points to note
- In 2023 Q2 (April – June), the FCA received 300 new whistleblowing reports. For the same period 2022 the team received 243 reports. In 2023 Q1 (January – March), it received 280 new whistleblowing reports.
- Over the quarter, there was an increased use of e-mail and the telephone as the method of contacting the FCA, with a reductio in the number of contacts via the online reporting form.
- There was a marked increase in the percentage of whistleblowers who provided their identity.
- Compliance, fitness and propriety, the culture of the organisation in question and ‘Treating Customers Fairly’ (in that order) were consistently the four largest categories of allegations over the three months.
- In June, the fair treatment category moved up to second in the list of allegation numbers, from fourth, changing places with fitness and propriety.
