Context
The ASA, every Wednesday, publishes and sets out on public record its rulings, which show how, following investigation, the advertising rules apply and where the ASA ‘draws the line’ in judging whether an advert has broken the rules.
This week the published rulings include three financial services-related items, including one linked to insurance.
Key points to note
- A ruling in relation to Rematch Credit Ltd t/a DivideBuy explains why a poster for a buy now play later credit service provider was banned for not making it sufficiently clear that it offered a form of credit and for being irresponsible.
- A ruling in relation to Hey Habito Ltd explains why a TV and a video on demand ad for a mortgage broker were banned for exaggerating the likelihood of future significant interest rate rises.
- A ruling in relation to British Gas Services Ltd t/a British Gas explains why two TV ads, a website and tweet by British Gas for their HomeCare Cover service were banned for misleadingly implying that emergency call outs were available to all customers at short notice.
