Commenting on the publication of Statutory Instruments to amend Civil Procedure Rules and introduce Whiplash Tariffs, Mark Shepherd, Assistant Director, Head of General Insurance Policy, at the Association of British Insurers, said:
“Publication of the Statutory Instruments, Pre-Action Protocol and Practice Direction are an important step towards implementing the long-awaited whiplash reforms. This is a big win for consumers, the result of much hard work by the industry with a number of Administrations over the years, to ensure that meaningful steps are taken to control the costs of the whiplash claims, whilst ensuring proportionate compensation is paid to genuinely injured claimants.
“The industry will consider the details carefully so that insurers will have sufficient time to prepare and provide a good service to customers through the new Claims Portal from 31 May.”
High level details in relation to the nature of the reforms can be seen in this letter from the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to the British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA).
