Context
The FCA has updated and refreshed the content of its ‘Keeping your firm’s information up to date’ web page. As a useful reminder, this page outlines what firms need to do to ensure that their details are correct on the Financial Services Register, and reminds firms about the Firm Details Attestation and Directory Persons’ Attestation.
Key points to note and next actions
- Firms need to make sure the information the FCA holds about them is correct – such as the firm’s name, contact information and Permissions.
- To update their information, firms need to check their details on the Financial Services Register, and where necessary update the details using the Connect system, via the FCA’s ‘My FCA’ portal.
- The page contains information about completing the Firm Details Attestation at the firm’s financial year-end, including a reminder about which details need to be confirmed.
- Two small sections remain in the web page for firms which are registered at Companies House and firms which are Principal firms with ARs or IARs.
- The section in relation to the Directory Persons Attestation remains in place.
A note of caution:
- Having reviewed how firm details now appear on Connect, and despite the information on the Financial Services Register being up to date, the Connect system indicates that ‘there is a problem’ on 6 of the 12 sections. Having checked the data for the firm concerned, there were no issues or problems with the data.
- In what became a lengthy process, it was necessary to re-enter addresses through a ‘lookup’ to return (exactly the same) address that was there originally. For the firm in question, the ‘looked-up’ address then had to be edited each time to take out the name of another business which happened to be in the same building.
- It appears that the ‘use same address as principal place of business’ on the ‘other address’ sections is no longer there.:
