Data from the CII’s 2023 Corporate Chartered Equality, Diversity & Inclusion survey indicates positive business outcomes for firms implementing EDI (DE&I) practices and policies The survey builds on initial research on the adoption of EDI practises by Chartered firms carried out in 2021, specifically around strategy and leadership, data and operations, and culture.
Key points to note and next actions
- The latest data shows an increase in the proportion of respondents saying that EDI policies had directly led to a more representative workforce and a more representative senior leadership team. That is also an increase in the proportion of respondents reporting that EDI policies have raised awareness and understanding of EDI and helped leaders identify biases.
- Respondents said that practises such as EDI training for colleagues (that goes beyond compliance requirements), attracting talent from underrepresented groups, and systematically collecting diversity data, had led to positive outcomes for their firms including improvements in creativity and innovation, and increases in employee engagement levels.
- The survey results show examples of the most widely adopted and least widely adopted EDI practices, and commentary on the impact of EDI policies on business outcomes.
